well a small update for you

started removing the engine over the past few days

got the water drained out, radiator removed, inlet manidold and throttle body removed

thought i would have a look under the cambelt cover to see the condition and was shocked at what i saw

we drove the car back 200 miles on that, lucky or what

while i was at work the other day my dad took a trip to the local scrappy to see what bits he could get as it really needs a spoiler because it has a crack in the middle

and the owner of the yard said if you look in the corner there is a red gsi corsa already been gutted though, the savages had cut the engine out and had most of the bodykit and interior, managed to get the spoiler, its got laquer peel but its not cracked and a rear seat bench as mine has a small hole in it

also got the airpipe that goes from the slam panel to the airbox with clip and plastic screw aswell

thats about it for now

cheers

Did you turn the engine over to get the chop at the top? Otherwise lucky it stopped there else you still might not have seen it.

well the engines out, borrowed a crane from my dads work and got it out this afternoon

whipped the clutch off and its still good and original GM too

had a look down the inlet side of the engine and there is no burnt oil in there so no probelms with valve stem seals either

going to pick up an engine stand up on sunday so can get it on that and start cleaning it

more soon

small update

got myself some chrome gearbox bolts

its all about the little touches

and went to pick up my engine stand today from djbrowney, top bloke

got it back and had to remove the flywheel to get it on but no problem

makes things so much easier though being on a stand

started to give it a bit of a clean and its coming up pretty nice now

nearly ready for some paint now

more soon

not sure to be honest, will be black on the block for sure but not sure if i should do it matt or gloss

cylinder head and gearbox will get pained some sort of silver but not to bright and the cam cover will just get polished i think, you wont really see it anyways as it will be under the cover

other than fitting a gsi kit to it ithink ihave gone as far as i can with it ,she was built as an exercise as when it was first done no one had used an xev so a few bits of the conversion was a challenge.sometime in the future will be going on motorbike throttle bodies but as it stands its just as a show car and not used very often
