General chat is definitely a catch all as James says.

Full of people wanting help, partly because HZ has been slow for a while.

Not sure if it's best to just to get rid of HZ and have separate B, C and D sections with all related posts or split it even further.

Splitting further sounds like far too many sub forums which would be a problem.

I think you should combine general chat and help zone but then split it out to Corsa B, Corsa C, Corsa D, Non-Corsa.

That means any car related chat (whether it is general chat or requests for help) will have to go into one of those, thus appearing to increase the Corsa related activity.

Yeah when it goes to B,C,D, HZ threads will just go in there.

GC would need to be clearly labelled as non-Corsa chat IMO otherwise it will just end up as a catch-all again.

If the B, C and D subsections were split again it would be too messy.

And pointless - HZ and general threads about the car are posted, read and replied to by the same people. Makes no sense to split it.

That's why I've never loved splitting up HZ in to engine/body/suspension/whatever. although you do get a lot of on topic threads when you go in places like that.

Keep GC as GC but put a B,C,D Icon next to the relevant posts that the user selects upon making the new thread

have another forum for all car chat under projects and builds

Surely priority should be corsa chat then other Marquez a sub section from that? Otherwise it will look like a car forum with a hint of corsa which isn't that good for someone new.

We have corrado general chat, then a kind of off day for everything else. But think members are generally older on there and not so much random internet stuff happens.

Also help areas are split into groups, like drivetrain, engine bay, interior etc. Works well.

Then a section for group buy things, and a guides section for certain jobs or upgrades to the car.

Maybe try and work it all out for corsa b first and let the others follow.

I was thinking more of "Corsa Chat" in which you would have topics with a B,C,or D next to them. and then under the Projects and Builds Link you have "other marques" or something simmilar

so from the front page you would see

Help Zone...
Classifieds...
Corsa Chat...
Off Day...

ect ect

then the other marques part wouldnt be as aparant
