Hi there,

Been meaning to put a thread up on here showing the progress of my friends Astra SRi Turbo.
Bought 3 years ago completley standard with just 14k on the clock

Anyway, over the 3 years alot of money has been spent on it, turning it into something a little special.

Engine:

.Astra VXR Injectors
.Astra VXR AFM
.Pipercross Dry cone filter in custom made airbox
.TX-Autosport tubular manifold kit but with custom intake pipe
.Owens Devolopment gt2860rs Turbo
.3'' piper exhaust turbo back
.walbro fuel pump
.Custom 2.5'' top hat an boost pipes
.JDM intercooler
.Baileys dump valve
.Courtney Sport Fast Road Clutch
AVS-Performance Custom Map

Made 325BHP/335 lbst @ 18psi

And the nice subtle touches to the car:

Astra VXR interior

Corsa VXR Steering Wheel:

Engine is still on standard internals at the moment, currently rebuilding a completley forged engine, inlet cam, few other upgrades and a ATB Diff will be on order. Hoping to see 360+ ready for PV next year, up the strip

Comments Welcome

He's not using it right then lol. I'm suprised it's not making more power than that tho. Mind was only 25bhp less but made more torque.

You have to admit the M32 ain't known for it's reliability no matter how you use it lol. It's a good spec you have tho, I just thought you'd be making higher figs.

Sombody on Astra owners is 350bhp I think but wouldn't go that far. I can alot more if I wanted to but don't want to push it to far. The turbo can handle 370bhp that's why I'm building a forged engine to turn it rite up maybe get a bigger turbo but want it to be drivable aswel so probs stay around 360-70. It's really good fun to drive now lol

It's not the m32 off an astra vxr,
It's still the standard f28 5 speed.
IMO shows how reliable these cars are.

F23 gearbox on these.

Forged lump? I've seen standard z20let pistons in a 500bhp engine no hassles, I would be worried about the rods though.

F23 is a strong box imo, they can handle 325bhp easily

If I wanted 6 speed I would go F28 and convert it to hydraulic, wouldn't waste time on a M32

I've heard of 400 on standard internals, but i think 500 is a bit optimistic

How much work went into getting the steering wheel on? Or is it straight swap?

18psi is around 1.2 bar yeah?

Thats pretty good power for that turbo if its the one I think it is.... known as the 'disco potato'?

We have twin GT2860R-5's (i think the RS is the -10... one size bigger?!) good for about 400bhp a turbo.

We run about 700bhp at 1.8bar - roughly half that to get what were making from a single unit = 350 at 1.8bar or 26psi

so you are doing quite well

What's it like handling wise? A lot of people on here complain about the GSi being lifeless!
