im sure it has been asked many times but i done a search and only found the nova turbo build thread

i have a corsa sri 1.4 8v and would like to turbo/boost it and have been sourcing parts

i know i need to lower the compression, is it right that if i use my c14se bottom end and fit a c16se head it will lower the compression?

also i would be running low boost around 6-7psi maybe? what size boost pipes would you recommend? 2" or 2.25"?

many thanks

been there done that, not worth the hassle. We did if the right way with new pistons rather than decompression plate etc
For the money you will put into it and a redtop will beat you is it worth it.

i know it would be cheaper to fit a c20xe or a c20let but then it will not be a 1.4 8v sri

the car is what we use to attend car shows and show on car stands it has a prowler bodykit fitted car is brilliant white it has wide wheels carbon bonnet so we just want to add a little bling to the engine without a conversion

i can see where your coming from BUT turboing a 1.4 8v is a total waste of money an time mate.
Cut corners and will brake down alot.
Really mate coming from someone who has been there done that.
There are better ways to make your engine bay more pleasing to the eye than fitting a turbo.
An if its to be differant then fit somthing else in there 2.3 turbo SAAB engine, easy to do, an not really been done.

as i said thats the reason i dont want to fit a different engine

i dont want to remove the old one

wanting to just boost the 1.4 8v sri... engine is already clean and tidy

all i need to know is would 2.25" pipe be ok for 7-8psi and whats the simplest way of lowering compression without changing pistons

what head can i fit to lower compression or shall i just fit a 1-2mm decompression plate?

who is doing this turbo conversion for you? should you not be asking them for advice?

Boost pipe size will not matter.
Cheapest way is 2-3 head gaskets or have a decompression plate.

What turbo you planning? What ECU? fuel plan's?

i will be doing the conversion

i have done plenty on fords, peugeots, citroens and engines changes and so on

fueling will either be megasquirt v3 or mf2 5th injector

turbo i was looking at something similar to a gt17 from a saab or a standard renault 5 spec turbo

i will need to work out what the ratio will be of compression if i use a 1-2mm decompression plate and then maybe gasket each side of the plate do you think that will be ok on these engines?

I can supply a 8v Turbo manifold for the small black T2 Turbo fitment

Can also supply a decompression plate, twin pass intercooler

Or can even build it for you

people think its going to cost me an arm and a leg but i have most of the parts already and family work for a car parts company near me

i have everything else sorted now
i have 2.25" boost pipe kit
small front mount intercooler with 2.25" in and outlets
boost gauge
modified sump for oil return
injectors
decomp plate
rebuild parts including head gasket, cambelt, waterpump and so on

if people do not like my go ahead about this and think its pointless then please ignore the thread and move on... if you are looking to see something different and a 1.4 sri turbo corsa then keep a look here and i may start a progress thread for it

its quite simple to turbo the 1.4 8v iirc,

1.2 spi exhaust manfiold, t2 flange welded on t2 turbo
oil filter relocation kit
front mount intercooler
rising rate fuel regulator
boost trick switch or 5th injector for coilpack engine
oil feed and returns
spacer plate

think thats it anyway... look at my thread doing a 1.6 8v turbo conversion thread on my nova
