Just reviving a the thread

Been an eventful hobby for 2011.. I've been buying up job lots of planes and bits on eBay in the run up to xmas, keeping bits and selling the stuff I dont want.. I've managed to get through a few planes though biggest fail was a E-flite Habu that I managed to crash into a post:

The Twister Jet is still alive, amazingly.. Its a bit battered but it flies perfectly.

I gave the axion glider to a friend.. I have to say thats got to be one of the best trainer planes!

I had a small forray into helicopters: less said about that the better! Total waste of time and money they are

I've also build a 3D park flyer but I'm too scared to fly it yet

The guts of the habu (a rather tastey aluminium fan and a 80A speed controller) are now in the Twister Jet along with a 4 cell power system which means it can now climbe vertically.

Proper collective pitch stuff is really, really hard to fly and really expensive to fix

You can get coaxil (twin blade) helicopters that are a doddle to fly but its so easy its not fun..

The more money you spend the easier they are to fly but obviously the more money you spend the more it costs to fix WHEN you smash it to bits.

If you land a plane little heavy you might break the prop or rip off the wheels, maybe need some glue! you land a helicopter heavy and the blades even brush against the ground it will smash its self to bits and you're looking at shelling out £100 or so.

They are collective pitch helicopters, you can change the pitch on the blade to make them create lift in the opposite direction.

You have to setup the controls all fucked up though

I've always wanted a proper petrol helicopter but it's one of they things I've never had/been able to justify splashing a grand on.

How much did that set you back? (including the price of the radio)

I'm just getting to grips with nitro cars, but, in the end, i want to fly planes.

When you start looking at stuff like that you will already have radio gear... If you are asking for a RTF version of something like that you better have some serious money to burn because it will be in the air for about 10 seconds if you havent flown before
