http://www.thediamondstore.co.uk/?gclid=CMrrh8C4s6oCFYG9zAodmkoe9w

Got mine from there

I purchased a Colour G 1ct with Vs clarity and certified with certificate etc roughly 2k cheaper than any high street store

Get the certified clarity with colour G, and if that mean sits a smaller cut then so be it as they sparkle more

People get caught up in the ct size and its the colour and clarity that make a diamond

I.e a Colour J with Si clarity will always look smaller than a certified one with colour G and VS clarity due to the way they reflect light

It's true!! I've had to have mine resized and polished once and it needs doing again I'd hate the thought of cutting a 2k ring

I keep laughing at 2k on a ring

I would honestly prefer spending £1500 on stuff for the house or towards the wedding itself or a holiday

Madness

How hard can it be. You go to a proper jewellers (no high street crap) and pick something you like and know she will be happy wearing. You already said nothing too flashy, it should become obvious when you see a few.

So tell me... How is it not like Argos stuff? It's bad enough to spend £15 proposing to spend the rest of your life to someone, it's hell worthy to lie about it's value

Spent £350, she picked it. Easy.

Wedding bands were much harder.

find a ring you like (and that SHE likes) then take a pic to hatton garden in london and get the jews to make a one-off similar to that for probs a 5th the price

or do what jules did, if i ever get engaged again ( ) thats what ill do, with a swaroski ring or somehting as a placeholder, as it were

is there not some rule of like a month or two of your wages determine how much the ring is ment to be? bullshit i know but some birds expect a lot. i used to work with a guy who was in the jewellery buisness and he sorted me a ring for one of my ex birds, cost me about £120, he told me that would sell in a shop foe about £400 (wasnt an engagement ring or anything) but it shows you what the shops really add on.
