porsche engine, how tunable is the 1000? the imp has an 875 and 150 bhp isnot unheard of, although very expensive

I'm not sure john, I've heard of a simca with a 1000cc turbocharged engine in so that could be an alternative route

the standard simca 1000 is 55hp........the Alvis weighs 2 ton and has 65hp

no but there is a racing club (french)......but its all bike and porsche engines and nothing standard
although they did offer me a roll cage.....350 euros brand new

I'm not going down that route though, as I'd like to keep the rear seats for the kids.

over on retro rides there was a fella who was putting a ayago engine in and had a kit to super charge it. Think he gave up the build, might be worth a look for research

Your need something that can actully work with a transaxle/bellhousing pattern hence the r5 suggestion, or Coventry climax ?, bit needs to be lightish I'd imagine otherwise your have a epic pendulum effect going on, great progress btw

well not a lot done today

the wife dragged me out for a day trip with the kids

although I did collect the rear subframe from the shotblasters on our way back

its now 10pm and I've just finished putting a second coat of chassis black on it

so tommorow its back to welding......I'm hoping to get the welding finished tommorow, then getting the wheels back on over the weekend.

then next week......
boot, bonnet and bare doors back on.....then some paint......glass back in....dash back in.....interior cleaned up and back in........

should have it finished in about week

......if the weather holds out!

well I would do that if I had a garage!....its a bit different working outdoors, I need to get it done whilst the weather allows

just a quick update before I start welding again........after endless discussions over paint colour with my wife and friends, we've agreed on a colour and the paint is now ordered.........(so no debates please)

metallic 'cadbury' purple

the paint should be here monday/tuesday so it'll be a busy weekend getting the subframes/wheels on all panels and doors back on and prep work ready for paint

phew...its a good job I'm off work for another week

so back to welding now for the day, I'll report back tonight
