also just bought some 80mm front springs for the corsa hopefully get it sitting the way i want.

so far ive done;

sport interior
gmax shocks with 60mm front 100mm rear springs
sport spoiler
air bag steering wheel
vauxhall mats
smoked depos
astra mk4 side reps
painted v gille black
uprated speakers and tweeters, sub amp etc

future plans are

irmscher front splitter
sportex racetube and back box
tigra scuttle
mhws
spoiler repainted
speedlines refurbed in anthricate and 195/40/16s
and c14se head inlet sri ecu etc

nova update;

no more bolster wear thanks to a passenger back piece attached to a drivers base



gsi doorcards with speakers



started stripping engine

sump off



baffle plate off



some slight scoring on the bores....









as it sits the now next to the engine in the garage



corsa update;

inner archs painted black like the floor





yeah the red drums and calipers stand out but i like them

gave it another clean

another wee update, speaking to a member in ireland on allcorsa and looks like ill have an opel grille and mudflaps soon. also be going down the scrappies in the next week and getting a tailgate so i can smooth the bootlock and wiper

cant wait hopefully that will be the exterior finished, but i would really like 80mm front springs and a irmscher front splitter.

got some more prep work done on the nova today, still no sign of a start date so may aswell make sue of the spare time i have.

sorting a few high/low spots



a - piller dented after i hit it when removing the door



next up removed the rear quarter window



wee bit of rust, seen alot worse lol got it cleaned up though



removed the b-pillar vinyal



small skim of filler



skim of filler were the ariel hole used to be



all sanded down, still to get finer grades and keep going but a step in the right direction none the less







put the door in place check for panel gaps, the a-pillar needing another skim of cataloy though



then started to undo the 3 bolts holding the water pump onto the block... rounded on so got the grinder out and cut a wee line in the middle and used a chisel and hammer to losen it. then went to remove the water pump and wont come off, put a post up on fb about it and nobby on here says got to whack it off on thr 8vs using a chisel and hammer, so will get round to that later

well carrying on from yesterday i got the water pump out eventually... so got stuck in about the engine....

got the main bearing caps off, shells off and pistons removed... still to remove the crank

few pics



all parts removed, small takeaway boxes are bolts etc



stored away for time being till ive got everything required to rebuild it



close up...



cam cover repainted looks better now,



and the head, gotta get that painted up soon



first time stripping an engine so deffo a big learning curve... comments etc welcome

Don't mix up those crank/conrod caps, I'd put them back on and just loosely screw them in.

Make sure you smear everything with oil to stop it from rusting.

Whats the plans with it anyhow? Whats being replaced with new? What you doing piston/bore wise?

Check the crank and conrods carefully, Turbo build will put more stress on already very old parts.

Also its essential you measure the bores after honing, You don't want sloppy gaps on a turbo build. Will also be important to not leave it idling when you first start it, so don't start it until you are ready to take the car to MOT as it will be the most important time for "running in" those first few miles, More so on a highly stressed Turbo.

Don't skimp on bearings etc as I say, turbo build can't be skimped on if you want it to last.

probs get the crank reground tbh.. they will be measured before and after. once the turbo set up is on its going be on very low boost and ran in and gradually built up... then set up on a rolling road, ideally i want it to last yeah. not going to be cheap but its going be a lot cooler than the traditonal redtop/LET/v6 route.
