Pretty sure z16xep rods fit the x16xe engine and are wider/stronger.

Yes the Mini charger is pretty bulky in comparison to Rotrex, note how the intake in on the front of that Lupo Engine which makes the conversion easier albeit tight. The problem with the Vauhall engine the throttlebody/intake is at the rear which will give clearance issues. Also remeber the belts have to be accessable so it can be driven.

The only advantage to the mini charger is that its a sealed unit so no need to tap oil feeds to it etc.

the pic is a AVY engine, meaning unlike most big block vag engines it actully has the inlet at the back and manifold at the front, same set up as most vauxhalls and very un vw like

Most likely, But if you was doing that, Might as well get corsa VXR rods (Can't remember engine code, duh), The rods and pistons will fit, Just need to bore out the block.

Would you need to put in different/standalone management to run a turbo or would it just be bolt a turbo on?

You can run it on standard management, but really not ideal, Although there are lots around like that.

Dont think its a simple conversion though!

to get the most out of it you would need standalone management imo. when you add the cost of that to all the other costs you may aswel just buy and fit a let.

but im sure all you bigblock haters want to do something 'different'

^Sure that wasn't baxters? That was 240bhp but on standard compression, scared the rolling road man, blew up a gearbox and was split before the engine itself blew up.
