Probably expecting too much of them to do more that just an interim update looking at the iPhone life cycle. They'll remain competitive because it's Apple not because it's the best. Meh, they're more of a toy than anything else anyway...

Is there anything better out already though?

Galaxy Tab is too small (imo) and no cheaper.
Nothing else of a decent quality is available yet.

Theres also a couple of rumours that Apple might drop the price slightly to increase pressure on rivals still coming to market.

All the rivals are releasing their products Q1 this year, so stuff should be available soonish. The rivals do have the benefit of not being first to market with thus style of product so you'd expect them to listen to the criticisms of the iPad and respond accordingly...

I noticed over the weekend that the iPad deals dropped in price a bit.

16GB + 3G for £25 a month fr 24 months.

Quite tempted by this as I assume the iPad 2 deals will be roughly the same apart from with £200 up front etc?

Like the 3GS vs 4 iphone contracts?

Assuming you're talking about the Orange offer of £99 down then £25 a month, £700 for an iPad that should cost you £550? Get a 0% credit card and either tether it to your mobile or buy a 3G and get PAYG data.

yeah thats the one, 1gb on wi-fi and 1gb on 3g? I can get the £99 knocked off as a friend works for orange.

works out at £600 over 2 years in total, which includes 3g?
