Yes, hence my reply - you say it can't be done for what ever reason (you haven't really given a reason, you just believe a phone couldn't be stuffed into that rumoured casing); and i'm saying it can and basing it on the fact there are a fair few phones that are packaged smaller and thinner than the iPhone 5 (Oppo has a few, Huawei P1, Droid Razr, Fuji Arrow etc) and the continuation of smd/soc miniaturisation (there's already talk of Apple shifting to TSMC's 20nm SoC design, if not 28nm, for the A7/X).

But good talk, Bro, good talk

I'll believe it when I see it (in a couple of years).

I don't think I understand the issue with using a curved case? They did in the Nano a few years ago.

Boom!

Yes the phone will need to be bigger and need to contain more components...

If they were able to even get halfway there the iPhone 5 would already be the same design as the iPod touch.

They need the square design to get everything in whilst retaining thinness, given the're not interested in just making it massive like all the other manufacturers.

Current iPhone 5 design holds all the necessary components, I guess we agree on this?

In time for the iPhone 6 (let's say roughly one and a half year) it will be technically possible to use an even smaller form factor.
Can we agree on this too?

Now they can either:
A) Keep the thickness of the phone, but change the shape.
B) Make the phone slightly thicker on the middle and change the shape, which will make it appear thinner than it is.
C) Keep the form factor and make the phone thinner.

Seems pretty realistic if you ask me...

Yep all that make's sense to me however this design is touted as a possible 5S, which will be due in 6 months, not another one and a half years. It's the timeframe I disagree with.

Hence my post at the top of this page "I'll believe it when I see it (in a couple of years)."

Oh... I completely missed your point then. Sorry bro!

Doesn't even seem that questionable to me though, that they should be able to do it right now. Make it slightly fatter than the 5 and it'll not need much smaller components.

No worries bro.

Also agree they could do it now by making the phone bigger or thicker but it's very unlikely they'll do either. Once the bars been set that tends to be it with Apple.

Something has to give. Current iOS coupled with VERY similar looking phones is boring.

It's not what you originally said though; You had issue with the fact they technically and physically couldn't accomplish it unless they define "the laws of physics of course" -

It's simply not true! And it was already mentioned before you came wading in that it'd be unlikely they would go with a complete case redesign for an in-between model (HERE).

As usual, you're......

I wonder if people on the iPhone forums have a 93 page long thread arguing about Vauxhall Corsas

Dom - Alex posted an image of a 'fake' iPhone 5S and I said it won't be that and justified it by saying 'stuff won't fit'. My posts have always been in the context of it being a 5S.

Never mentioned it couldn't be iPhone 6/7/8, I've no doubt components will be small enough by then.

Try again mate.
