See I see £255k as an average quite cheap coming from Windsor initially and now living in an area where a 2 bed flat costs that much !

Course but house prices don't fluctuate as much as they seem to up north. Going back to the main point of this thread the OP bought a fair sized 3 bed semi for 60k.

In the shittest of area's near me, 60k would buy a caravan in an area that you would get mugged, 85k would get you a 1 bed terraced house with no garden or parking, 150k for a 2 bed semi, small garden and no parking etc.

Where I grew up however, £450k for a 3/4 bedroom semi was about average so seeing a 3 bed for 60k is shocking where ever it is.

Every single thread on this subject has ended up with people having that view of houses because they won't move outwith 2 streets away from their parents.

I could stay in a slum in Glasgow for 50k or I could go to an area where you aren't far off £255k for a flat, it's ignorance.

I'd be very happy to move away from my parents but unless you want to live in multicultural Slough (which I am point blank not) it's 180k+ for a 2 bed flat

That's fair enough, wanting to live in a decent area isn't a problem, being totally oblivious to the fact that there are cheap houses everywhere is different.

It's easily 180k for a a 2 bed flat in nice area's of Glasgow, which as I've said before has ranked below Iraq in some surveys.

I do understand its not black and white though:

South = Expensive, North = Cheap.

North if it's England is cheap. Scotland is another country, it doesn't count

But seriously - cheapest 'house' property (not flat) in my home town where there are posh, mediocre and rough estates is £100k.

The question is, as it's never been bought, who would actually rent it. Can't exactly be a demand for rental properties if those kinds of places haven't ever been bought.

oh there is, £400 is cheap for students to have their own place, also council pay £91 pw housing benifit too for a single person in nottm, so there are always ppl wating to live in the city.

So your saying that place would rent for £400 PCM?

I may arrange a viewing. Is that a nice part of the city? Is it right in the city centre?
