im thinking about getting one fitted to my 1.6 sport but im not sure which to get.my mate has got the dbilas one fitted to his 1.4 and it works well, but its a bit on the expensive side, like the mantzel.the velos torq tube and lexmaul ram induction are cheaper and on paper are as good, but has any one got them fitted to a 1.6 and what are the improvements like.

i think the respective manufaturers state as follows:

dbilas +22 bhp
mantzel +20 bhp
lexmaul +15%
velos +25%

but i dont know what its like in practice.

Dont bother with Lex stuff, Mantzel is £475 and gives ya bout 20-22bhp and works well with other mods, 160bhp not too difficult. Torqtube is a copy of above so will get similar gains

Velos doesnt look to difficult to fit if ur half decent with a spanner. Theres a fitting guide in this months Vaux Sports Car Club mag.

They got nearly 20bhp gain at the wheels on a GSI

iv got a Velos torque tube on my SRi 16v...i had my car chipped at the same time...my car is much more responsive...but its a bitch to fit the torque tube...i had Rally Tec in chelmsford do mine...mike complained how the kit was missin things (such as T peices, gasskits etc)and how it was a bad design, well could be designed better (to fit easier) lol

id say the torque tube at just under £300 is deffinately worth it!

If there is enough interest then I will make up some similar to the mantzel design with all fittings to easily fit for under £200.

My only experience at Velos was really bad. They must've come on a lot in the last few years, cos the feeling we got there at a rolling road day was they were cowboys.

The Lexmaul ram induction works differently from the other products in where the power is delivered.

"Max power" means sod all if you have to rev the nuts off the engine to get it. The best way to appreciate the Ram Induction is to look at the power curve before and after. The power gain is throughout the whole rev range with peak power no higher than it was previously. No increased rev limit is necessary which is obviously a lot better on your engine.

The Lexmaul Ram Induction works exactly how Lexmaul intended, if they wanted it to perform like the Powerbox they'd have made it like it!

It's a direct replacement, so fitted in a couple of hours. It comes with all fittings, etc. and is TUV approved which is reflected in the high quality of the product.

In another post you said it was just the top half of the manifold that is replaced.
I had a look at this and its only five bolts holding it on plus the removal of the plastic cover.
Now its a two hour job so is it the whole or half the manifold
