It counts as a 1300, so what?

Like so many kids on the net, you get all defensive without reading comments properly. The RX7 is a great car, but it's hardly comparible on performance, price, running costs, or category to any of the cars mentioned above.

I'm not slating RX7's, just saying they're not known for being ultra reliable.

But obviously if I had a mate that has got one then that'd be different

cos jap cars arent designed to last a long time, yes they may be fast but how long before u need to be spending lots of money on them. the civic revs really high so its not gonna last aslong as say the turbos whihc u dont need to rev the nutz off to get speed.

Sorry to interrupt this poll with a sensible reply...

I've got a CTR. It's not the quickest car on the road (although most owners over at www.civictype-r.co.uk like to think so) but it handles brilliantly out the of the box. The engine, as with all VTECs, is love it or loath it. Drive a turbo-charged car and you won't understand what all the fuss is about. If you enjoy thrapping through one of the best gear changes you'll find anywhere, you'll absolutely love it. Could definitely do with an LSD and another 50bhp though. Very expensive to tune.

Astra GSi is easily a match in a straight line, probably not on the twisties. Easy to sort though. I like 'em, but depreciation is likely to be far worse than the CTR. Leon Cupra-R is stonking value and might be the sort of car that tempts me away from the CTR in a year or so. Or an S2000....

We've owned Hondas since 92... and the only time we've had a problem was when the cambelt snapped at 125,000... it should have been changed at 60k, so that's not bad going... Honda vtec engines can easily do 200k+ when serviced properly. They like to be flogged, it was what they were designed for.

Also we've never had a squeak or rattle, or any build quality issues at all.
