Oh, and I think this is the end for the iPod touch.

I dont see the point of that now with this and the iPhone.

You can't compare it to an iphone though, you have to compare it to the touch

I'd go with £600ish.

It isn't the same as an iphone so similar prices don't matter. If you want a phone, you don't want a pad.

The iTouch will still be around. The iPad isnt exactly a portable music player!

waaaaaaaaat?
they are completly different items?
Are you going to carry an IPAD around in your pocket to listen to music, say... while your at the gym?
Are you going to buy a £550 mobile phone just to listen to music?

Think before you type, they're totally different markets

The iPhone has been out for ages now and I doubt a massive tablet will signal the end for a pocket sized music player

Alot of people would rather keep the phone/ipod separate though so I think there is still a market as obviously this is alot bigger.

I don't use my iPhone for music at all and prefer to have something separate for music.

Really?
It must just be me, I have a 3G (and just bought 3GS on PAYG, to hopefully get me through to July), and I do want an IPAD.

Both myself and the misses would use alot in the lounge, saves me getting out my big clunky laptop to surf the net, and saves her getting the mac out.

TBH I was more going along the lines of the iPod touch being over taken for music by the iPhone, and they were pushing the gaming angle for it to keep it in the market - but now if this is going to be a gaming type machine too then it takes that market away.

I guess I under estimated how many people use an iPod touch for music still...although I do

Hows that? its a tablet not a PC? Your not going to use it like a PC.

You're going to use it like an iPod Touch, which seems a bit pointless no? Spending another x many hundreds for just a bigger screen? I'm really struggling to find uses! It's only half the weight of a Macbook Air and an Air is a shit load more useful that this glorified Touch/E-reader.

Cosmo - no doubt someone will knock up a word-processing/Office type app.

Sorry yeah. I mean you won't want one OR the other so similar prices don't matter.

You won't choose an ipad INSTEAD of an iphone.

I would still much rather buy a premium netbook for (what I estimate to be) half the cost!

But its likely to be half the price of the Air?

I have a powerful PC which I use to do all my normal work on (whether it be word processing/photoshop/dreamweaver etc).

I then have a laptop for doing simple things, youtube, web surfing.
I wouldnt buy an Air to do the same as my PC, where as the IPAD will be better to do these smaller tasks than my iphone.

Well isnt it a Iphone on steroids?
albeit without the GSM technology.
It has newer components, larger/faster power, so I would assume its going to be a fair bit more than the Iphone.

This (and install OSX on it )! Or just get an Air (Bart, you really can't say it's a ballache getting an Air out? Far from chunky laptop ).

As for price, i can imagine it being a bloody rip off....

But as you said to me when saying it will kill off the Touch (which I still think it may for the reasons I put above) - different markets, etc. so it wont sort the price.

And if it ends up being as high as you say then the MacBook is an option at just over £800. Hence why it will be priced between the iPhone and the MacBook.

I dont have an Air, but I can only assume its quite large like a laptop.

I can see the IPAD being easier to use and probably alot cheaper than the Air?

If they are similarly priced, then you would be right to say the IPAD is not worth it.

Tablet PC's have been around for ages running XP and such and are used just like a normal laptop (albeit without a keyboard/mouse), so no reason why they cant out OSX on there.
