Standard box for what? Gsi or Sport? Or did you have another car and had a 1.6 16v engine transplanted?

Standard sport gearbox.....but when doin that speed then slamming it into 5th, it kinda dies for a bit and has to build back up 5th gear is pretty pointless best just to top out in 4th on it, strange.....

100 at 6000rpm in 4th. revs to 7200 which would give 120. if I hit 7200 in 5th I'd get 160

Got from somewhere that the F20 also has a 3.42 final drive. Which would give 118mph @ 7000rpm. I'll have a nose when MIG is back to see if I can find out

Good thread this - I'm dropping an F13 cluster into an F10 box to lower the final drive. Should enable me to top out about 135 in 5th, (instead of a ridiculous theoretical max of 175 ). More importantly though, it'll give me closer ratios - that F13 box in the Sport is way too long.

Oh yeah, box will prob explode after 10,000miles, but who cares if they cost £100 a time.

F20 do come in two final drives 3.55 and 3.42. 3.42 gives 118mph @ 7k in 4th.

At the moment, just over 60mph, though with the rebuild taking so long, it's hard to remember... With a closer ratio box, my 0-60 will be adversely affected cos of an extra gear change, but in real-world driving conditions, the car should be much quicker.

Andy don't do it! Your car would be doing 5sec 0-60's easy now with the extra weight you've lost, if you go for an even closer ratio box that you need to change to 3rd for 60 you'll be back in the 6sec range!

lol I know, but if im told that when my clock shows 120 its accuratly doing 118, then when I accelerate an extra 10mph on the clock you'd expect me to gain another 10mph, hence my 130 figure. Wonder if a car can accelerate but not go any faster. lol

I know, I know - but TBH, 0-60s are not what the car is really about. I want a very rapid B-road eater and something that's quick on the track too. A shorter ratio box will help keep my engine 'on the boil'...
Also, I don't think my standing quarter times will be adversely affected, because with each gear change, I'll be slap back in the peak torque area.

Whats the best 1/4 you've ever got?

I went Santa Pod this weekend and got my best ever time that I was well happy with.

15.249secs @ 92mph
