VTR is 98 bhp
VTS 118 bhp

As CORSA NUT says you will need some spare cash to fix them, not the greatest cars for reliability.
I had a VTS MK2 2001 was great while it lasted

VTR = Version Tourisme Rapide

VTS = Version Tourisme Sportif

Reliability has never been an issue on my C2 VTS to be honest before people start slating them.

Phase 1 vtr - 90bhp
Phase 2 vtr - 98bhp

Phase 1 vts - 118bhp
Phase2 vts - 127bhp

IIRC

mates 03 plate vts used to go off the clock no bother

I always thought VTR = 90bhp VTS 120bhp. Phase 1 and phase 2 are just like facelift versions, so different styling. No change in power as they are the same engines being used.

1 plug, black top rocker cover, cat under the car = 90bhp mk1
1 plug, grey top rocker cover, cat under the car = 90bhp mk2
3 plug, silver top rocker cover, cat in manifold = 98bhp mk2 2001+

Aye, there are two engines in the Saxo VTR's. The rust top (aka, silver top) makes 98bhp, and the older ones make 90bhp. I don't think the VTS's alter in power except the fabled 3 plug or something making about 130bhp. No known proof though

VTR = 8v , VTS = 16v (with higher bhp around 120) just as badly made however!

Had both VTR & VTS, ace cars, although you always have this thought in the back of your head that if you crash/someone hits you you'd die.

Look pretty poo at standard ride height so need lowering for sure.

My VTS never had a single problem, although I only had it 6 months. Had to get rid because it was simply too tiny to fit a baby seat etc in.

Fuel pump went on my VTR and left me stranded once. That was a shitter.

The headlight mod is a good choice too. Only costs you a can of black spray. Check out the difference on my VTR to the VTS

they are terribly made though, be warned if you buy one that every squeek and knock noise possible will eventually surfice during your ownership, and the interior light lets in water when it rains lol

Thier not that bad. Its not the interior light its the sunroof seal that lets the water in. They dont crash very well at all because thier made of monkey metal. The knocking noise's can be sorted if you know what your looking for. The TU engines are bullet proof. And parts are easy to find if thier needed. Drive them properly and they go well. The choice is simple for me it would be vts but insurance group 14 compared to the vtr group 7 does work out a killer for some people

mate there only a cheap car there not goin to be mint,the fact people just drive them flat out most of the time to, course theres going to be problems ive done about 20k
in a year in mine and it hasnt been to bad. and its the sunroon/airel that let water in.

Light let water in Like that's a standard thing lol

Treat them nice and they'll treat you nice, the same with any car.

Mine got severely beaten all the time and they still kept on going, minus the fuel pump issue.

At the end of the day, all cars have problems from time to time. Just because my fuel pump went doesn't mean it'd happen to you. Same with these so called lights letting rain in when it rains

Not all ph2 vtr are 98 neo they changed to that engine 2001 easiest way tell if it 98 brake is 3 plug ecu and cat on manifold
