Fuk spending that on a trolley jack.

I'll stick with my £19.99 Lidl jack and a set of rusty axle stands.

Ive had some low cars but have never struggled to get a jack under them either.

thanks for your input,

I'd rather spend my cash than have my car get damaged by cheap crap. And if you didn't have problems with jacking your car obviously wasn't very low.

Your welcome.

And yes a few have been pretty low,but theyr are a few ways around it including the block of wood or removing the cup from the jack.

Not knowing how to jack a car up properly is what causes damage to sills etc, thankfully i have never had that problem.

imo expensive tools are worth spending the money on

they always get used and last years

if your going to do a job, buy the correct tools and do it properly!

I agree with what your saying about the more expensive tools being worth spending money on but its a trolley jack, they all do the same job.The cheaper versions are 99% just as good. The only advantage being they can go a tad higher.

higher is not the only advantage...the main advantage is them being lower to start with, which saves time fannying about with rolling the car onto wood or using a scissor jack first

plus better build quality, lighter, stronger blah blah blah

it's just one of those things that you use so often and want to be able to do the job easliy

there's always smeone to argue about something!

Why would I want to use wood are take the cup off?? When I can just buy the correct tool. And the point loading caused by that would not be good for the car.

Also I wasn't talking about damaging the sills I was on about when your 'rusty axle stands' give way and go through your car

"I'd rather spend my cash than have my car get damaged by cheap crap."

Youve just bought a trolley jack,so to me that saying is in relation to a trolley jack and not axle stands.Maybe i was being a tad to serious with the "rusty" comment. They are pretty old tho.Surely if they give way they are going to drop the car down and not go through it though??

A trolley jack is a trolley jack, both do the same job in as good a way.

I got one of these for when I had my TVR

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Arcan-Aluminium-3-Ton-Low-Lift-Garage-Trolley-Jack_W0QQitemZ160357746414QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Lifting_Moving_Equipment?hash=item25561106ee&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14#ht_798wt_939v

Better if your jacking point is quite a way back as they stay lower and flatter for longer! They just weigh a ton tho

I've had a Halfrauds own for years now, it isnt shiny and it doesn't look particually nice but it does the job aswell as a £200 one. Think it was about £30.

I know, I use expensive stuff at work. My point really was that there's not much use spending £200 on a jack to use at home every now and again.

shame this has turned into an argument, at the end of the day these jacks just make life easier for instance you can rotate the handle if jacking the car up by the rear beam rather then messing around with a normal jack and low entry is just so nice to have when you have a lowered car
