On my recent trip to scrapyard i got a spare centre console surround (thing that goes around heater controls etc) as i wanted to mount my gauges instead of vents.

Started work early today so got home after lunch and had loads of free time.

Used some fibre glass to form a basic shape of what i wanted:

Rough:


sanded down a bit:


Then noticed that the fibre glass didnt mould to plastic at all



Original idea was to get some 52mm tube and cut the holes in FB, fit tube.. but then i thought of how i would fix it to FB etc.. and came up with another idea.

Put some MDF in the middle



One hole cut now, will cut the other two tomorrow after work. going to take my time with this as i need to replace the dash to fit cluster surrond from gti and will want to fit this at same time and i want it perfect!

Yes, I don't think i am mature enough to handle the speed of this car + it is not great to for commute to uni

believe me, it is fast. i was gaining on a VTS yesterday, and that was stripped out.

60 miles round trip to uni.

Dont sell it bud, end of the day its you who controls how fast the car goes.

My diesel ibiza can get 55mpg if i drive sensible and can easily drop to low 30's if i'm having a spirited drive! O and i can just and i mean literally just pull away from type r's!

Nah my replacement is a 323 Beemer, so not gonna regret it. Simon i am suprised you didnt hear it yet. Got loudest exhaust in selby

TBH if i was to keep it, i would have to get custo suspension, 4 pots, rebuild the head etc... thats a lot of dough i could be spending on going out.

Sorry the replacement is a 323 Beemer and you're concerned by the speed of the Swift?!

Would I be more correct in thinking you're selling up as there's issues you can't solve from the conversion?!

beemer is slower and is more comforatable

and i have done 1300 miles since the conversion, and it is spot on.

Does need few wiring bit doing but never have time, house needs bits doing, and there is always some thing to do. Now i am back to uni time is at short supply ;(

Lol thet beemer will be shocking on fuel, my mate has one and says its a real guzzler!

Also in the wet they are VERY tail happy!

cant be worse than my escort i had - 25 mpg on a good day.

i aint too bothered about running costs.

I CAN get 44 mpg in swift, but more realisticly - 35 mpg. If i get 25 in beemer, its gonna be 10 extra a week if not less.

Well if you drive even remotely quick you can literally watch the fuel gauge drop lol

Just stock up on good rear tyres or you will be off to work/uni backwards lol

I used to work at White Young Green, its above the set of shops like kfc etc. I work for a different company as certain people from there got bought out by a different company
