Its basically a connection in the loom to the side of the battery and underneath the boost pipe, its a selection of earths connected at the same point which provide earths for the map sensor, coolant temp sensor and air flow meter, can't remember exactly what happens to it but I just googled 'z20let earth mod' and found the info I needed.

If you google 'z20let earth mod', 'z20let p1106' there is a fair few posts about it on migweb and aoc, not much in the response of conclusions though, seems alot of people are having the exact same problems as I am but are yet to get it completely gone.

Sort of, people related it in with the fault code I had so did it anyway, I still keep looking through all the threads I find through google and soo many people have the problem, and I can't seem to find anyone who has said "Its fixed".
Only option I see is to do everything, and i'll report back here with results for anyone who also has the problems.
So far Ive done the following:
.checked and tightened all boost hoses
.new front bcs
.earth modification
.new map sensor (borrowed from garage but get a new one monday)
And here is what needs to be done:
.check recirc valve and replace if faulty
.have actuator checked
.Another session at the garage with Tech 2
It also seems I have 3 coolant leaks now, waterpump, coolant hose to turbo and a 3rd leak I can't trace but there is always a drop of fresh pink/orange coolant on the underside of the car, under the part where the rad sits so thats some more investigating that needs doing.

On the drivers side of the rad there is a little red screw for emptying the rad mine was leaking for there simply just tighend it,

My mate has a blue one which he has been having a little trouble with too but nothing this bad. Blue ones are jinxed me thinks

UPDATE 05/05/2010 - ITS FIXED!!
Well guess what....i fixed it!
I always remembered what the guy at the garage said- "Our chap said it wasn't running as quick as it should be, the new boost control solonoid didn't fix it after our guy took it for a test drive, so it needs a new map sensor too, you will now find the car running alot better and faster than it should have been"
So no only did the guy take it on a 20 mile round trip(kept an eye on mileage) but presumes it isn't as quick as it should be, so see's fit to adjust my actuator all the way up the rod.
I came across it after seeing this picture:
Someone had posted it on AOC and had the car rolling roaded and made book figures and normal boost which was around 0.5bar and slightly higher in higher gears.
So bit the bullet and adjust mine back down, it was then obvious that it had been adjusted by the garage on purpose as the top nut wasn't even tightened up and there was a gap between the nut and the casting between the other nut.
Adjusted it back down, tightened it all back up and took it for a drive.
Warmed the car up, then put it to the test up a hill, its now hitting the same boost figures as before and the EML went off straight away.

Cheers mate, supposed to be going back to the garage monday to pay for a new map sensor, i was happy to have the bcs replaced as that had gone, but if they think im paying for something i don't need and leaving my car with them again then they have a nother thing coming

The boost control solonoid has definitly gone, and it was clear once i had a better look at the actuator that it had been fiddled with, after putting it back to where it was it runs fine again so will see what the garage have to say about it tomorrow.
Oh yes warren had money saved for fixing it but that can now go on mod's.

Cool, I think mine might be blowing up  Smoke is coming through the vents, and smoke is all around the turbo, gonna get it done on warranty.

How many miles has yours done? Im surprised my turbo hasn't shat its insides out yet tbh and mines on 70k now

Still on standard turbo? if so thats not bad going tbh, like I said at least you have the warranty there to cover you
