so the 1.8 has the hydraulic steering pump? If so would the tensioner on the 16XE mount fit correctly?

Basically you are just swapping out the engine, you keep your engine mounts, tensioners, pas/ac pump etc. etc. etc. transfer over the starting and charging loom and alternator bracket,.. Its very very simple.

Just to clairfy the X18XE1 and X16XE are both family 1 engines so all of the ancillaries and mounts are compatible.

Ace Do you know what year the change-over was on the vectra's and/or if theres any other cars i could get one from?

1999-2001 1.8 or a pre 2001 1.8 astra.

You can tell by the engine cover, it will be black and silver.

You need the ECU, the transponder and the key chip.

wheres the transponder? thats alright because i wanted veccy door handles anyway so ill just change locks etc

ITs on the barrel, black box.. You dont need the locks.. No need to over complicate matters!

You just pull the transponder off the vectra barrel and swap it for the one on your corsa.

My corsa doesnt have a transponder i dont think, well the key doesnt have a chip lol
