ive had a search around the net and it has mixed opinions, gt some pistons all coked up funnily enough, any one ever done it?

Not sure if the residue will do you any favours and it won't be the cheapest way to do it.

I'm sure vinegar can be used as well.

I would be interested to find out what works best as I'm considering setting up a powdercoating facility at the workshop and I'll need prep bays.

vinegar is good for rust ive heard not sure about carbon though... its asda coke so its cheap enough

White vinegar works on an loads of stuff and is really cheap.

Have they not taken the stuff out of coke that used to eat away at everything?

Danny W used cheap cola to clean the bolts for his bbs wheels, came up realy well!!
Should work the same on engine parts i think?

Paraffin, petrol, or diesel are all very good degreasers. Paraffin the least smelly and cheapest!

As above, vinegar is much better and cheaper in most cases
