4 credit cards, with roughly 3.5k limit on each.

Only reason i have 4 is that I use the 0% transfer periods then get another one. Currently have an Egg card with 0% until Jan 09. Only use them to pay for car insurance, and the knowledge that if anything happened Id have that credit availability to fall back on.

I only want one, because you're protected more when you purchase things than if you use a debit card, which is ridiculous imo.

My halifax came with 9 or 10 months 0% interest. Was the first and only one i applied for. Not with Halifax either. Applied online and in branch as was to impatient for online. Could of had a limit of £1k but opted for a limit of £700.

Can you apply for one and only use it on a rainy day?

As in you haven't got to keep using it

So am I right in thinking (sorry I'm not used to this stuff)

I can put everything I would normally pay for with my Debit Card, onto the Credit Card, the Credit card company will take the money out of my Debit Card account, so there's no real differene there, except by doing so I save money on fuel?

Have I got that right? Or are there other perks too?

While you are paying it off its also improving your credit record, credit cards are only bad if you cant pay them off!

Thats right. Plus your credit rating goes up.

You havge to set a direct debit up with the credit card company, I just pay mine off online when the bill comes in!

I've got a direct debit set to pay in full every month so I can't be late with the payments, it's used exactly like a debit card.
