Ok ive just found out they came in mk4 Astras so scrap that 1st post.

If the X18XE1 is as quick as made out to be,and in a corsa,as quick as a C20XE,then that must mean the mk4 with an X18XE1 is quicker than the exact same Mk4 SRi with the X20XEV??Even tho the stats say it isnt.

Now go back and compare the P1 Astra gsi with a C20XE and a P2 Astra Gsi with the X20XEV.Both cars weigh the same, yet the P1 with the C20XE wastes the P2 with the X20XEV.

So i cant see how its possible for the slower out of the 3,to be as quick as the C20XE,in the same car(corsa)

yeah thats what i mean, but maybe there is something about these engines the book figures arent telling us. maybe they are better than more powerful engines etc.

Theres a massive difference between the C and the B! The car is bigger, it has more trim, a subframe etc. etc.

I had a c20xe corsa and a corsa c 1.8 and then the z-let

The c20xe was not far from the z-let C 0-100

anyhow, off topic what is going on about these map's ?

The mk4 Sri with 125 bhp does 0-60 in 8.5 secs.Im assuming the 115bhp version will be more 9secs??

The older vauxhall range with the C20XE does the 60mph dash in 8secs max(depending on the car its in).

So transplant both engines into a corsa and take off around 1sec for 0-60 and it still means the 1800 will be significantly slower surely??

is the x18xe an aluminium block?
x18xe 123bhp @5600rpm
125lb/ft @3600rpm
c20xe 150bhp @6000rpm
144lb/ft @4800rpm

Well IMO the x18xe might pull away up to 10mph or something because of the lower rpm peak torque. then the c20xe would keep pulling further up the revs and would easily out pace the x18xe. When driving fast people don't tend to stay under 4000rpm on an N/A engine.

Its a family1 engine, thus its the same block as a 1.2 8v.. The block its self is actually slightly lighter than the 1.2 as there is less 'meat on it' but the 16v head is slightly heavier... IIRC its something like 8kg heavier than the 1.2 in total.

Try and pick up a 1.2 engine, then try and pick up a XE

warren had a 1.6 on tb's. id rather have a 1.8 on tb's than a 1.6 ten times over.

dave a had his at 200bhp. but it had alot of custom parts
