it would appear only a couple of banks are following the low 3% rate, just rang abbey my lender and they're still up at 6%, so its not worth while cancelling just yet

Whatever happens you need to transfer assets at least 7 years before the original holders die, otherwise you get raped on inheritance tax

Do you not feel that is wasted money though? You could get a mortage for that and at least be paying a little bit off the mortage each month. That's how i see it anyway.


I agree but when you cant get a mortgage so that we can get a house thats big enough, needs must untill houses come down and bank start to lend again!

Is it still worth the £200k though?

I would much rather pay £650 on a nice large house of my own which i can keep and at the end of 25 years will be mine..
