ive noticed that my oil needs a little top up but what type is it? my 1.2 8v was 15w40 i think? would it be the same for the 16v model?

10w 40 or 15w 40 will be ok.

I'd use 10w40 semi synthetic.

if you have a oil rated at
5w 40
10w 40
15w 40
20w 40 these oils are the same thickness, the w rating means cold cranking which is measured in centistokes but if you have a oil that is rated at 10w 40 and a 10w 50 then the 10w 50 is a thicker oil

hey daz1985 give opie oils a ring to find out what the 10w rating means on the oil and also ask them what the 30/40/50/60 means as well and the 4 ball wear scare test means

question, how do you know when it is time to change your engine oil,
also what happens to your oil on short journeys also
what cases engine oil to go black quick,
what is classed as severe operating conditions for a vauxhall engine
