cupra r for reliabilty.
Rx-7 for looks (i just love them)

No point getting a rex 8 if you can get a mint rex-7.

But if you want a more modern looking car the rex 8 is defo nice.

I think the RX-8 has a few problems, I know someone who had a few issues with hers all of which were under warranty mind, gearbox is a weak point although fantastic car otherwise.

Engines need either rebuilds or replacing at around 60K bare in mind this is not with ALL RX8's but put it this way they had one in a day were i was getting done.

So the same as any normal top range Mazda??? RX7 was teh same, funny enoguh, same similar Wankel design.

Had the same issues since the original RX7. It comes with part of Mazda Rotary ownership.

Its a fantastic car, watching the rev counter spin quicker than usual, that distinctive Wankel whine, its a great car. Stunning to look at (compared to class cars, Focus etc) considering its age, one of the best engines designed ever, but they do drink oil and fuel which is the only real downer.

If these 2 don't fall into your "stear clear of" areas, then go for it, otherwise if your worried about costs and running, then get a different car.

Owning a Mazda wankel is like owning an alfa romeo. Its expensive to run it, but when its all on song theres nothing like it.

They should last well over 100,000 miles, they say they are much more reliable than the ones in the early RX7s

All this about them breaking comes mainly from people who've never owned one. If you take care of them, proper warm up and down procedures and fluid changes, they'll go well beyond the 60k "limit".

There's one on RX7Club which has just hit 120k if I remember rightly.

I'd spend my 6k on an FD, they look great and have the power to match. AND, you pay only £120 a year tax. As for the hairdryer comment, you must have heard some with shitty exhausts CN.

I just have £3k saved up in case my engine does let go at some point.
