at the 2nd suggestion.

But I was gonna say with the first, a popping exhaust is down to several things.

Either it's like Barnshaw said, over fueling like a bastard and popping away.

or it's fuel igniting on the over run (as it hits the hot exhaust manifold) - little pops.

or it's air being sucked back up into the engine when you come off the gas - despite the throttle body being closed... then when u put your foot down again the abundance of air / fuel that's gathered goes BANG! ... I know due to a large over lap on the cams, this can be caused, where it's essentially blowing air and fuel straight through, so it gets ignited in the exhaust pipe when you get back on the throttle again.

honestly if you want to get your car popping,

Do the following. Buy a resister chip that makes your car run stupidly rich. Get a stainless steel exhaust system and decat... (popping is igniting of fuel in exhaust, so this is bad if you have a cat, as it burns straight through) ... finally losen your exhaust system so your manifold has air leaks (allowing air to be sucked back into the system on lifting off / over run)!!!

Now enjoy big pops and bangs... Mad mike will explain how to do this with pictures.

Heinz do good trims for your exhaust that make it pop and bang.

Or do us all a favour and make it pop and bang by pouring a litre of petrol (Doesnt have to be Optimax) onto the driver seat .

Put the window down and throw in a lighter.

Watch in amazement at your car popping and bagging whilst saving your street cred and everyone thinking your a dick.
