Well...... To day i am gutted

Went to the PGAC rolling road day with 205tom today at Awesome gti in Irlam

the spec of my car is 1.7 cdti with
dtuk red tuneing box(£280)
blueflame turbo back ss exhaust syestem (£375)
pvd bfo air fillter (arond £100 or so back in the day)

i was expecting around 130bhp and 230lbs ft
nope
it made just 114 bhp and 224lbs ft just 14bhp more than standerd torque is up 47 lbs ft tho
that is not evan the quoted power for the tuneing box on it own

Sooo obviously i am gutted and now i want to get rid of the car. What a disappointment

The thing is tho, on the road it feels alot quicker than 115 bhp

looking at the graph he seemed to let of at 3800 rpm ish , the car dosent make peak power till 4400 acording to vauxhall and it quite happily revs to 5100 rpm

so all in all a quite a gutting and confuseing day for me
any 1 want to buy my car

we had a case of this once,

bloke came in for a rolling road set up on an RST, he believed it to be 280bhp, anyway, 2 hours later jamies finished, says, right your cars done, made 265bhp, bloke goes mad saying how we lost him power etc etc etc, saying hell never come back, wont pay.

jamie says ok mate, heres the keys, if your not happy with it then dont come back, if your happy with it come back and pay

20mins later one very happy customer comes back saying his car is sooo much faster and never driven so well!

some companies give intersting power figures and suposed gains...... dont get to uset about it

I found that my car drove better without the tuning box. But it definately has more poke with it plugged in, and it makes clouds of black smoke with it plugged in too

broster is right, peak power isnt important.

I dyno'd a car today and forgot to change the calibration in the RPM range, it made an extra 47 ft/lb. spotted the mistake straight away though as it hit the limiter at 4800 rpm on the dyno screen.

Dyno's are a tool for testing and developing engines and associated parts, the last thing a dyno operator looks at when doing runs to test mods is the peak power, its whats between 1000 rpm and the peak revs that is more important than what power the car makes at a tiny portion of the end of the rev range (which is what peak power is)

I have some fantastic graphs to explain in more detail what I mean if people want to see them.

Torque will make it feel quicker on the road, 47ftlb is a good increase. If your happy with it why get rid??
