As following on from the other thread "Got myself some alloys! bargain!?"

I took the car to a tyre fitting place earlier on and had them balanced, however they found a flat spot!

They said you can't really hit the flat spot out because you might crack the alloy so what should I do?

What do you mean by flatspot?

the only flatspot associated with wheels i know off if they have been on a car thats been stationary for a while and not moved making a flat spot in the tyre.

All that needs doing is a replacement tyre?

So what do you mean by flatspot in the wheel?

Sound buckled to me, if its not bad you'll get away with putting them on the rear, they should be able to roughly balance it for you anyway.

It is really weird tbh sometimes it does it quite a lot and other it doesn't do it at all!?

I have to say tho it handles a fook load better

I'm thinking I might just flog the alloys although I like them I just can't be arsed to spend loads on getting them repaired........

Does anyone have any idea on how much it would cost to get a "buckled wheel" repaired?

thats money down the drain then.

its going to be at least £50, but i would guess its going to be more than that for a decent place to do it, and it will probably damage the paint, so then you will probably need all the wheels re painting for extra cost again.

give it up as a bad job and get some others, they are not worth it, or if you want to try, just tap it back with a mallet, bent one of my old rh wheels back and it straightened out fine without cracking

no, it could just be the outer rim that has bent out away from the tyre by the looks, unless it has bent towards the centre of the wheel.

go steady if your going to do it though,

I wont be held responsible if the rim cracks.

Sure thing, thats what the geezer was saying at the tyre place when I had them balanced....

so you reckon £50 each wheel just for the repair ????

I only need two doing and am thinking about getting them refurbed anyway....
