16 bent valves and guides
also a stripped thread in the block on the front head bolt

how the woodruff key brake? i hate them things i always thread lock them in as see them work there way out, i have been tempted to put a spot weld on them before now

I was told by vaux parts dept that you can no longer buy the crank pulley cog anymore?

was it the key on the crank or the pulley that broke?

the little lug part on the bottom pulley broke that locates on the crank. common problem so ive heard but first one ive ever had

the key is on the pulley, the crank has a slot dave

thats what I said, isnt it

Ive seen this happen twice lately, x20xe and a x16xe. both times were due to garages not using a new crank pulley bolt during cambelt changes and not tightening them up properly.

mates did this on a c16xe. dont think its quite as bad as this one though.

happened on my x14xe i got away with minimal piston / valve contact though

I always do, its £1.02 well spent. my parts dept usually throw one in with the cambelt kit anyway.

so how do you get the alternator belt pulley off to remove the cam belt covers to see the timing marks?

on a c20xe u undo 6 outer bolts to do the belt. the crank pulley stays where it is

Not sure, I didn't need to take off the timing belt pully to do the timing belt om my 2.0....

Ooops...

While we are talking about them, does anyone know how to undo those bloody lower timing blet pully bolts? Mines done up so fecking tight I don't have a clue how to get it undone.......
