I know a few private sites that are better and have releases way before they appear on torrentspy.

Not sure if I'm correct here - but downloading the .torrent file isn't actually illegal?

The content of that file I would imagine has no copyright issue and also doesn't actully prove the download of the actual music/film/whatever has taken place?

There wouldn't be a lot of reason why some kind of arrangement could be set up where by .torrent files were downloaded en mass by a large number of people with only a small number of those resulting in actual proper downloads.

The percentage of failed convictions using the data which is full of blank leads would be quite offputting to anyone trying to catch actual downloaders...

Surely the easiest way to catch people is just use a torrent client and look at the peers list of who's sharing/downloading

I use supertorrents for most stuff now, but I still occasionally use torrentspy either when im not in a rush for a file (so i keep a better ratio on supertorrents) or when i want inspiration for what to dowload i just search for "axxo"
My supertorrent stats are...
Uploaded 314.43 GB (1.38 GB/Day)
Downloaded 79.32 GB (356.25 MB/Day)
Current Seed Bonus 51.17 GB
Total Seed Bonus 43.85 GB
Total idle Bonus 0.00 kB
Share ratio 3.963
