Author fitting a z12xe into a 1998 sxi

hi, the headgasket went on my sxi and ive got it rescimmed but its still buggered so i rang up this engine speicalist company and they have a z12xe from an 04 C with less than 20,000 that he says he can fit to mine which did have a x12xe with 87,000 in there. discuss please pros and cons

Yes sir.

I would imagine the complete wiring of the engine would have to be changed. Would be much easier (and cheaper) to find another x12xe.

Z12XE is fly by wire, you have no chance. Find another X12XE it will make life easier.

ive already sorted it with the guiy he said he will suply and fit and be done by wednesday

I wouldnt take on that conversion, its a completely different engine and wiring system so he would need to swap over the ecu and loom, immobiliser bits and then find a way to get your corsa B dials working, would need to wire in a fly by wire throttle system and retro fit the corsa C pedal,...........


asking for hassle IMO.

I presume the z12xe is the Twinport unit? Probably be slightly quicker than your existing 1.2 16v.

yeh ive asked around of people and hes ment to be the dogs dangly bits. think hes changinf a few things form my engone to the z12xe. hes not chargin an incredible amount and giving me a 3 month gurantee that covers everything

arent there some parts of the x that can be transfered onto the z so its cable throttle rather than fly by wire?

tis easy doing that. bloke who bought my 1.2 engine put it into a corsa b. mind u it needed some fettling cos it sounded like a bag of nails! haha
