Yeah I'm on a bit of a budget, cams would send me over big time i think to start with i'll get the inlet on and see how it goes, dont want oil going everywhere though that doesnt sound too good.. lol!

where does it go on the standard setup? :-s

My plans are similar to yours...

inlet first
then 4-2-1

then im going to put her on our exhaust gas tester and see how lambda is. Then maybe an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator if needed.

getting closer to doing engine work now i've sorted suspension (well i might raise the front a bit) and brakes.

inlet first of course.... but because i've got my heart set on a seat ibiza cupra at the end of the year i'm debating wether to bother with the rest!

can anyone tell me roughly what power i'd expect from:

1) manifold alone
2) manifold and decat

i guess the inlet will see 15BHP and if i get it remapped 20ish, but am i gonna get another 10BHP from the manifold and decat? if not i dont think i'll bother as thats another 200 quid for not a big boost.. the inlet is my main one and remap will be cheap for me

You wont get 10bhp of a manifold & de-cat.

I have:

Drilled air box, K&N panel filter, 4-1 pro-tech manifold, Exhaust UK de-cat and backbox.

I'll be lucky to see past 115BHP. I wouldn't be suprise if it had 110BHP.

i think then for the costs involved and the fact i'll be spending dead money when it comes to resale i'll stick to a inlet manifold and remap from my friends company and aim for around 125BHP

save the cash and get some tb's. a full kit will cost you £1500 inc ecu and new loom, and will give a reliable 50 bhp. and lots more torque and power low down and midrange which you wont get with an inlet manifold.

look in my projects thread (project Vsport) for inspiration

i have drilled air box, pipercross panel filter, 4-2-1 janspeed manifold (very flat at the bottom!!!) decat, scorpion system and a lightened flywheel (no bhp increase tho!)

got 103bhp, so thats a 15bhp increase over standard, and should have 125bhp when the inlets on and superchip working! can hit the rev limited in 5th atm! 128mph!!! (only when using optimax fuel tho)

I aint spending 1500 quid on my engine lol... Ibiza Turbos goin cost me 5k but 250 quid remap will get me 60BHP... now thats a bit better value for money... dead cash wasting over a grand on this thing now tis a brill car runs mint bodys mint etc but not worth me spending 1500 quid on throttle boddies

Just simple stuff for me for the time being on the sport.

will get inlet and remap done, get it RR'd and see what we're running then maybe do exhaust but not essential i dont think now i want a different car in a few months.

been a lazy mofo as of late and splashed out on a holiday so corsa modding kinda halted... but wanna look into it again.

Just been reading more about decats and its a proper mixed response.. some say great, others say more noise no performance, others say more noise more performance.

if its gonna give me like 2BHP i just cant be arsed lol... also my car has aircon, been reading you cant get 4-2-1's on as aircon rad is in the way?

so thinking cost effective mods be 200 quid on mantzel copy and 200 quid on remap should see 130BHP top whack... hopefully? lol

if i dont get decat i am gonna get a new back box, im sure my cheapo one is quite restrictive.. its an oval but like 2 small holes so im thinking of a powerflow 3" single pipe, my centre section is brill im sure it aided performance and thats powerflow so may aswell stick with it, my local guy has a fantastic reputation and everyone whos had one who i know, their car seems pokier to me.

Apparently de-cats dont do much on these engines Dave.
Ive got a de-cat and full 2" bore system on my nova, tho i've not driven the engine with a cat on so i dont know what if any gain there was.

u2u'd matt

yeah i dont think i can be arsed with the hassle of a decat, im no mechanic so swapping for MOT will cost me money lol not worth it for 2BHP gain..

one thing that does my tits in about my car in the fact after say 5800 the power seems to tail off dramatically as the engine note changes if you get me, when it sounds more racey/cammy...

am wondering if a cone filter will make it revier at the top end? as it does naff all till 3500rpm anyway lol

my airbox is de-restricted and drilled on inner wing side which pretty much everyone recommends short of a BMC or similar enclosed filter...

am I best binning the standard cold air feed and running one from low down in the bumper to the airbox front hole?

2.25" exhaust system from manifold back is what you need!
