I sent a letter off to my bank after reading online that you can claim charges back.

I looked back over my account and totalled the charges up to be approx £280

I recieved a letter back from my bank saying that they arent prepaired to refund the total, but will refund me £150 of it - however they state rather bluntly that by doing this they arent admitting liability, or agreeing with what i put in my letter

Do i return the slip and get the £150, or go and try and claim everything?

You can go via small claims court, which is £30 for a claim under £300

The tone of the letter was abit annoying tbh, like, heres £150 but by giving you this we arent agreeing to anything in your letter and not admitting liability

and says, when you opened account you were given a copy of the terms and conditions of your account blah blah

... but in my letter i used a template that talks about the T&C stating that they would act lawfully or somthing or other so i just feel like im battling with them all the time

Im just annoyed tbh, they keep sending me letters asking me to apply for overdraft/credit cards etc so i applied for a £50 overdraft and was refused (why - i do not know, i have a mortgage and a credit card ffs ) so i wrote to them telling them i had applied and been refused, and they send me a letter saying i should apply for an overdraft... wtf

I hate the Woolwich.

I might do this soon. They can't refuse you either, thats why the try offering less than what they charged you. Mate of mine works for Natwest and she is always getting customers coming in claiming charges back. It was illegal for them to charge you in the first place. All the charges are changing soon, there is going to be an agreed fee of something like £12 for everything.

write back with a counter offer or threaten to go to small claims to get the whole amount, say £220 or around that.

read moneysavingexpert, you can get all your money back, some banks are really arsy about it and will wait for the day before you are due to do to court to pay up, they never go to court though as the banks can't justify the amount they charge for fines.

Worth the risk, I will open another account with another bank who will happily give me £100 for switching aswell.

Mine's over £2k so might be more risky in terms fo them closing the account but i'm not happy with them anyway which is what has driven me to asking for charges back....
