1.8spi engine is a big block engine, so its inlet wont fit your small block 1.2i engine.

1.6i inlet is the one you need, and it needs filing out by about 1/2mm to completely match the width of the 1.8tb butterfly.
You wont need block the egr if your 1.2i has a egr valve, my p-plate corsa with a 1.2i does. Early ones didn't.

I had a 1.6 inlet, but sold it

Right, cheers for that. So ill be needing:

  1. 1.4 Injector
  2. 1.8 Throttle Body
  3. 1.6 Inlet
  4. GSI Manifold
  5. 1.4SR or GSI/GTE Cam
  6. Straight through exhaust? But with the cat?

If its gonna be too much work, I might just fire a 1.4 SRI engine in it, probably be less work for more power... But we shall see, might not even keep this corsa, if i find a nice nova, its gone..

Did you notice much of a difference? If I am doing this, Ill get all the bits together and take the engine out, clean it up, and clean the engine bay up.

The nova gte cam made the biggest difference.
That adds a proven 5/6bhp on its own.

With the inlet etc, i did notice a slight difference, seemed to pull harder.

The head is still restrictive tho, so you dont get the most out of the throttle body.

I ran the same size throttle body on a 85/90bhp 1.4spi engine, so the tb isn't the limiting factor, that can supply enough air for 90ish bhp.

Cheers mate, very informative.. Would it make much difference if i whipped out the dremmel and had a go at matching the ports on the head? Or would i end up fucking it?
I was just down at the car, havent been in ages... Think ill keep it, it will look good with white wheels and the arches etc colour coded...

I wouldn't put a dremel anywhere near a head thats still bolted to the block with valves etc in...
So i'd leave it.

i just got my missus a 1.2 8v too...even an aftermarket backbox doesnt affect noice let alone power...ive got lots lined up...but for 15bhp and all the parts needed to tune the 1.2, its far less time consuming to just whack in the 1.4, which can also be tuned a bit better at a later date.

As for insurance...959seems steep...why dont u be a named driver on a parents policy with Direct Line? u get ur own no claims then...i still do that and im 20, costs me £320 a year and 2 ppl can drive the car. Thats on my own X14XE with mods declared. It was only £460 when i was 17.

Tuning a 1.2 with 44bhp to give it the power most other 1.2's already have is silly IMO. Ive tried and failed and found 60hp to be almost as bad...car just feels like it wants to be quicker, at least with the 44bhp engine it doesnt even try. No gimmicks and no false pretences lol

Pointless. There's a 1.2 8v Nova around here on carbs, cams, full exhuast etc. Got beat by a 1.4 8v S.P.I Corsa...

  6. Straight through exhaust? But with the cat? Soon to be sorted

Bumping this as Ive got all the bits now.

Oh aye, the brake cleaner and hoover will be out

What best to block off the EGR, just get the plate from vaux, or make one?

Chris why dont you just buy a x16xe, rebuild it and tune it while your building up your no claims and drop it in when you can afford it? Your going to waste alot of money this way.

TBH, as it's costing him about £40 in parts, plus the files, it's worth a try.

Gotta be worth a laugh for the money

If it works, it'll be more bhp per £ than I got from my X16XE
