Its great reading this, takes me back a few years when I built my corsa rally car. It looks like your doing a 1st clas job of it. I know what you mean about getting the black sound and stone proofing stuff off. . I took out 8kg of interior sound proofing crap

It'll be worth it in the end

19th March:
Not much of an update today but here goes.

Passenger side rear arch now fully cleaned off and primed, just the drivers side to look forward to now!!

Some previous owner had made a bit of a hash job at cutting the rear valance for the old exhaust:

So cleaned it up, re-shaped the cut-out and rubbed down and sprayed any little bits of surface rust:

And decided that the doors needed to go on a bit of a diet:

So attacked it with a grinder and primed the edges:

But the door is still quite heavy, so fibreglass doors might be on the cards for the future!! We shall see.

Until the next time....

good to see someone doing a rebuild, thats different to the usuals with it being a rally car so to speak. good to see this instead of reading about people trying to outdo each other with who's got the faster/bigger spec 2.0 or 1.6

I did think that the door bars might be adding alot of weight, might see what I can do with them. Thanks for the date reminder, I was a bit ahead of myself!!

The door bars are solid steel. They do weigh quite a lot

21st March:
Only spent an hour working on the car last night, and that 1 hour was spent, drilling, cutting, swearing etc etc trying to get the door bars out of the passenger door, but, its done!! And they were rather heavy, i'd say between 5 and 7 kilos!!

Sorry for the bad picture quality, phone pics!!

Not looking hopefull for those dates! If you'd have delayed it by a week it would be fine, but unfortunately I'd already booked my time off work for the 2 weeks after (conveniently!!)
Oh well, if you're going over later in the year I may come over, otherwise it'll be next year before she gets to be ragged round the track and try and beat my previous time!!

26th March:
Dad came over today and gave me a helping hand for most of the day.

First things first, get her back up onto axle stands:

Then dad made up some new brake lines and temporarily fitted them before we spray the interior (they are where they are because of the hydraulic handbrake thats being fitted!):

While I got on with stripping the seam sealer off of the passenger side arch:

Then started removing bits and bobs from the Nova.

Removed the radiator to find this lovely crack, one of many reasons for building the new car!

Removed all the perspex windows as they sold on eBay this afternoon:

Then fitted the new roof to the workshop:

Just need to get some sides on the workshop now and I can get some paint on the car!!

Updates soon.............
