Here we go, had alot of people asking about this so decided to make a thread of it.
My brother got the 1256cc 1975 viva for his 16th birthday (now 25yrs) he'd loved them since he was about 6 or 7 and finally got one.

he got the car ready for a respray and did it himself on the drive over the summer

and putting it back together

it sat in the garage for a few years and october 2005 we decided to fully restore it.
Fitting new suspension parts and a 2.0l xe from a cavalier in the process.

got the subframe powder coated with the new mounts welded on which i made from scratch and the engine fits perfectly

today we started cutting the drivers foot well out to put in new sections as it has rotten away

omg are u a spray painter who generally isnt a useless tit???

most of the painters i know with the exception of one lol are so dumb they cant use screwdrivers/sockets etc never mind weld or do anything really except for paint/prep/polish/tape etc.

good on u, seem to give these projects 110% and its refreshingly good to see a paintshop being set up which should turn into a very gd business and not have 1 million bitching threads on the net from unhappy customers...

I'm a painter who can't spray

Didn't realise Danny had that car since he was 16, nor that he re-sprayed her on your drive. Nice work, need to come have a look as it seems as you have done a fair bit since I last saw it....

Very smart mate, love the old skool Viva's

And I recognise that Nova in the background Is it yours? If so I spoke to you a few years back at PV when you were leaving with regard to the colour and the owner said they'd sprayed it themselves.... was that you?

finally got round to doing a bit on the viva as i took 2 days off work, been so busy doing eds car and my corsa, any way heres some pics

got the o/s sill cut off as was really rotten

patched up n/s inner lower wing section as rust had eaten it completly away, the sill on this side had been replaced a year before we took it off the road so no need to replace it

finished off the drivers footwell and bag sealed the front end underside as the top section is being kept smooth and painted.

just gotta get the new front hubs and bushes and then the front subframe can be built up and put back on so i can get the new front end welded on.
Gonna finish the sill and put the new rear arches on tomorrow hopefully, gotta paint eds car first though

So can you still get new pannels for these cars?

I love stone chip and bag sealer now. Can we do my whole car in it?

Brilliant project Tom.

THAT is where red tops should go if not left in their original habitat.

Very unusual choice of car and quite early for such a young fella. Hats off to him.

Two questions -

1) What on earth is bag sealer?

2) What is the other intriguing looking car in beige with arch extensions under cover and sat on Wolfrace rims in the garage?

Bag sealer is just under seal. It come in a bag and you tear the bottom half of the bag open to mix in the activator, the the top half of the bag to open it. It sprays using a bag sealing gun and it is by far the coolest thing in the entire world! Can't remember what the other car is, but it's cool and I think you'll appreciate it...

it was gonna be argento luna which is the light mettalic silver /blue found on ferrari 360's but its changed to a dark mettalic grey now with coarse mettalic flakes, will probably change again though
