Bollocks to Ferguson, bollocks to Clough this man is the Don.

SIR ALF RAMSEY

Club: Ipswich (1955-1963), England (1963-1974), Birmingham (1977-78)
Major Trophies: 1 league title (1962), 1 World Cup (1966)
Pros: Took Ipswich from the bottom to the top in only seven years - and there is the little matter of a World Cup trophy on his coaching CV.
Cons: Has the big one in his cabinet but his silverware collection is otherwise pretty sparse in comparison.
DH: "He didn't get the England job because he was Alf Ramsey - the fine defender, who played for Tottenham and England.
"He got it for what he did with Ipswich - taking over a team in the Third Division South and guiding them to the very top of the English game.
"He was then given the England job and went on to win the World Cup. There isn't anyone that has done anything better than that in the English game."

STFU that means nothing in comparison to a World Cup, come back to me when you have a manager that has won the World Cup and then maybe I can respect you.

TBH though, he didnt win much else other than the WC.

Its like saying Sven or MacLaren are the worlds best coaches if they had won it...but they certainly arent.

Aimet Jacquet, Carlos Parreira, Luiz Scolari

all world cup winning managers all nowhere near the greatest manager.

Jock Stein, Bill Shankly, Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson all superb leaders of men, all Scottish.

then Fergie is no great manager as after his first few trophies he had the best team of the time.

Infact fergie must be a worse manager as had, possibly, the best team in world football at one stage yet only won one european cup.

Bill Shankly laid the foundations for future Liverpool success.

Alex Ferguson built Man U from the ground up.

Jock Stein won the European cup, the first British club to do so, with players all born within 30 miles of each other, a feat which will never ever be achieved again

STFU you idiots. World Cup, Ipswich are the only team in the country to have had a world cup winning manager, that beats all European efforts.

Like already mentioned, there are managers who have won the WC but you wouldnt class as legends, christ your picking the best 11 out of 1000's of players in one of the top footballing nations in the world, it shouldnt be a hard thing to do TBH.

Getting players together, taking into account their cost and wages, against other clubs going for the same players and then taking them on to win the top prize takes more magagerial know-how than to win the WC....especially if you do it more than once IMO.

I'd argue that it's harder to win the World Cup, therefore more prestigous(sp). Not taking anything away from winning the European Cup though, thats an impressive feat.
