Yeah but your Nova's weigh much less than our lardy assed Corsas

Whatever times a Corsa can do, i would always expect a Nova to be that little bit quicker.

Please note, Lee never actually set any times with his belly. It was super Skinny Renton that always set the times.

Lee's car had a superchip... but just to raise the rev limit... same as me and Andy hamilton.

I'm sure it was mapped using a UNICHIP.

depends what inlet though.

if you have a mappable eeprom chip, you'll be able to iron out the flatspots in the midrange.

mine was crap without the chip, and the chip didnt just raise the limiter.

Yeah, which was done to Lees n Donnas. Don sold her Mantzel superchip to someone on here, but im sure it didn't work too well. But it was mapped to her engine, same as Lees was to his engine. And both pulled hard.

Rob-Lee = it wasn't anything clean. Sparco strut brace, yellow Mantzel box, and the rest of it was very dirty. It was a use and abuse machine... (hence 3 engines).

But then again, when I went out in the Mantzel demo car (Pete Knivett), that also went like hell. Same spec as D5, but it just pulled and pulled...

IF their not setup, they work ok, most people would be happy. If you have the engine setup properly, it'll go much much better. Just remember the strengthening bits, or it'll go bang....

It was a brand new engine from vauxhall so should be reletively ok with just ARP's

That car put Andy Hamiltons car to shame a little bit because it was 50 odd bhp down but was doing very simular times and didn't have TB's either.

Was a very very well setup car.

if it was a superchip it wouldnt have been mapped, they dont do that, it would have been done for a corsa with a manzel.

any corsa ecu is mappable, can be done for £450+vat and it means the ecu can be raised without needing to buy a unichip.

people forget about mapping cars now, they seem to think that an ecu to can learn, well it cant!

in the old days, mk2 escort on carbs, owner fits carbs, takes it to a carb tuner who rejets it and plays with bob weights etc!

now, corsa owner fits new inlet and hopes for best, the end.

mapping is the icing on the cake, doing the work i do now, it cannot be more apperent.

Exactly.

People come on, what cams, how can i get 50 gazzillion bhp from my corsa.... V-max figures don't always mean massive road performance...

You can slap a load of bits on, "map" it at your local Joe Bloggs garage and think you've got a weapon, but, the truth is, you can get more power, but more USABLE power from continuing the map work on it.

Superchips had their own special "map" (i put in commas as it isn't really a "map" as such) designed purley for the C16XE engine + Mantzel box. Saw it on a few cars (Mint green C16 nova, Lee's corsa, D5 etc) and all made very good power, but not just x bhp, the cars actually seemed to go quicker than they should have been (hence Rentons 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, yet no-one on here seems to be able to get even to the mid 15's, let alone high 14's...). These cars arn't mapped correctly.

Thats why i will never doubt the figures they gave us from the rollers.

I ran low 15's in mine before i modded the engine. Surely someone with a good C16xe, stripped out corsa can run these times?

I was constant throughout the day with my times - i still had some interior too!

Im planning for low 14's when im done if not quicker

I cant justify 2k+ for them at mo plus uprating everything else.

I'd rather do inlet and then spend rest on lightening the shell and strengthening it
