My experience with Vauxhall managers is they are cunts. That's the result of the dismal service I reieved from Lookers in Brum. But the garages are franchised, even so I have had to deal with some rude cunts at other dealerships too. It's unacceptable.

Well the garage i got my car from managed to dent my bonnet, glue the whole centre section of the dash when they tried to bodge a dial back on which also covered my head unit and it needed to be replaced - £300 alpine
The window came of the runner and then they broke something to do with that when fixing it.
Broke a valve when re gassing the aircon so it kept leaking.

Theres more but I cant remember what it was.

They are all useless, they rang her to tell her that her discs need replacing lucky enough shes aware of the bollocks dealers talk so she said leave it, if they do need repacing (considering the car has only done 29k) we can get them cheaper anyway.

I can imagine how much they would have charged her

Went back and threatend them with legal action and they just cancelled the bill in the end.

Why do you all persist in buying Vauxhall if the dealers are this bad??

I had a bad aftersales experience at Toyota...needless to say I wont be giving them any more business!!

Well, they wanted £780 to replace a fuel tank. So I guess they'll want about £400 for pads.

To replace front pads including parts labour and VAT = £225

Seriously do people actually pay these prices?

It almost makes me mad because if that was my grandad or something he would pay it

Do you go to work and not get paid?

Do you know how long it takes to replace a set of pads and how much a set of pads cost? It's a rediculous sum of money.

Yeah but pads are Pads 32.40 & an hours labour (£50/£60) will more than be enough to swap them round!!!

Its about double what that would be

I assume you plan on doing a job that someone can't just come off the street and be able to do with no prior experience.
I also assume that for actual work done you will probably command a high rate.

They are a business out to make money, if someone can't do the job themselves they have to take it to a specialist and pay the appropriate price.

Considering the trade price of the pads is £32.40 I feel a £200 quid mark up for a job that would take 30 mins with the right tools is a tad excessive.

If I go to the local chippy for fish and chips i expect to pay say a fiver.
If I go to the local fancy restraunt for fish and chips I would expect to pay considerably more.

An official vauxhall garage is a fancy garage for your vauxhall yes.

I'm not saying I would be happy about poying the prices either but they are a business.
I'm sure neither the chippy nor the fancy resruant pay a fiver in parts and labour.

Put it this way. You are paying £60 an hour for labour which is pretty m uch the Vauxhall standard rate. For 30 mins of that time the mechanic will not be working on your car, yet you are still paying labour. Then there is the caft that the trade price is £30 for the pads. Where does the rest of the money go? I know for a fact mechanics aren't paid anything near £60 an hour. I also know it costs a lot to run a garage. But then I also know that an enquirey is being undertaken because of the excessive ammounts garages are charging for repairs, especially now that cars with warrentys have to go back to the dealer to have most, if not all, repairs carried out on them.
