Bet you Newcastle fans are happy

The worst fears of Michael Owen and England have been realised after a scan revealed the striker will miss the next five months with cruciate ligament damage.

Owen collapsed in the opening exchanges of England's 2-2 draw with Sweden on Tuesday and initial fears that the injury was a serious one have now been confirmed.

More to follow...

He has lost his pace and his ability to run off the shoulder of the last defender, so what exactly does he offer anymore? Nothing.

Bent is better than him

As i have said time and bloody time again, Owen is a waste of space and shouldn't be there in the first place!

Now I laugh because Sven has fcuked it up, whos our back up replacement? WALLCOTT

That kid must be shitting himself right now, not even played in a Premiership match!!!!

Defoe and Bent must be screwing and rightly so.

This now goes back to what I said with a 5 man midfield with Rooney upfront on his own supported by Lampard / Gerrard and Carrick holding.

I BET you any money he goes with Hargreaves if he goes that route

5 man midfield is only option really, sorry but Peter Crouch can't do it in the world cup knock out stages, its time for proven players with experience to take command

Gotta agree with you there Sooty. Crouch has no experience and misses too many chances!

I really don't know how he managed it last night. I reckon its been on his mind that he needs to produce something good and its taken control of his concentration.

You watch, when hes back in the Premiership he'll play brilliantly!

this is why I didnt want him back at Liverpool, he is too much of a risk with the amount of injuries he gets. I said it before the game last night and that just proved me right.

Without all of these injuries I have no doubt he would be twice the player he is now (as good as when he was 18-22) but now he is just a shadow of that form and I doubt he'll ever recreate it again.

As for what to do now...5 man midfield with Hargreaves or Carrick in the holding role and Gerrard behind Rooney. Bringing Crouch on for the last 20-25mins if we are struggling to open a team up as he offers that ability to change the game.

That's fucking great news isn't it, we now start the season with Super Ameobi as our only striker. I honestly think relegation could be a real possibility unless Wor Fat Fred get's his cheques book out.
