just a touch bodgy then

as opposed to corsa gsi shafts that actually and rather suprisingly fit a corsa, and work fine without munching wheel bearings, or exploding into a million pieces of flying steel like most people seem to think they would

whats bodged about correclty machining the end of the shaft to shorten it 5mm?

Having measured up, it should work, and give me sufficient plunge on both sides, big block equal length shafts and big block bearings.

IMHO thats a whole lot better then undersized cv joints

Id agree too, you are keeping the CVs that were designed for that engine.

you dont even need to shorten the shaft mate just cut a new circlip
done it a few times and never had any problems

so they can slide further into the cvs as std beardy? Just hold the clip open as you push them in?

no i think youd be better off machining a new groove although technically i think youd get away with running without the circlip on the outer cv.

There is noway the cv could come off the shaft the only problem could be that the shaft would slide within the cv!

jobs a goodun. Removed 6mm off the end of each shaft (the chamfered bit) and then machined new grooves into them. Bit of a paint fitting them to the cvs witha double groove and no taper on the end, but so long as you are patient with circlip pliers its fine.

There seems to be plenty of plunge in the cvs now, but Ill check it again when its on its wheels before I tighten the hub nut fully.
