I have an nf7-m here that won't turn on.
Pc has worked fine for about a year and a half and on thursday it just woudln't turn on.
I've tried every other component so can't be them.

The red light is on showing the board has the 5v standby power.
When the 4 pin auxiliary connector is in but the main power connector isn't and I fire up the power supply the northbridge fan goes.

Any ideas, no visible signs of anything blowing up and I can only be annoyed trying so much with the multimeter.

if its dead, its dead usually, check the capacitors for bulging on the tops. Any that are bulging are blown and you can try and solder some replacements in if you like.

Usually its not worth fucking around wit hdead motherboards though.

take it youve tried resetting the bios? take the battery out for a minute and replace and try again.

Seen this fix a few apparently dead dell motherboards

can be a real simple explanation, something metallic (dust?) shorting on the board. give it a good brush with a non-nylon brush

Tried all the usual stuff, good clean and no visible damage to any components.
Need to wait on a reply email about it and see how long the warranty is.
I'd rather not have to buy a new one.

depending on severity of failed CPU, the MB wont beep if its dead...

happened to a mates NF7-S board, dead CPU = no post/beeps...

ANY failed CPU will still allow a boot into POST, followed by beeps. Until control has been handed over from the logic chip to the CPU bridge, a computer will function.
Something as sever as this points to power or failed CMOS/BIOS chip

I previously worked @ a computer firm for 4 years, repairing and building machines, we have had several AMD CPU's that wouldnt even let a board even POST

Brilliant idea cybermonkey.
I'll try the old hotswap with a bios chip.
Don't know why I didn't think of that.
I can get hold of a known working bios for that, use that to boot from then when booted put the old one in and try and flash it. If thats the problem of course.
