I couldnt get through to anyone must be national sheep day however there was a voice recording which said you can drive a car with no tax to a prearranged mot as long as there is valid insurance BUT it said a car without tax not a car that is sorn, it might mean the same thing however i didnt get through to anyone to confirm it

The status of the car effectively needs to be changed back so the car can be driven regardless. If its SORN it should stay off the road without question.

How do you change it back though without the MOT and tax?

Its through the DVLA. Get MOT and insurance then, and tax it.

Just drive with no tax disc in. Your not commitingany offences the police can get you for. Unlikely the DVLA will be out (only seen them once).

Thats what I'd do. Then again I drove without an MOT for 7 months LOL

Put car on a trailor to get to MOT station
Have MOT done
Leave car at MOT station
Take MOT certificate to post office
Return with Tax
Put tax in car
Drive home

you can drive without tax provided you renew by the end of the current month can't you

seen as you'll be paying the whole month anyway.

just don't get caught sly. it took me a while to get my ass to a taxing PO after mine hit the road again.

it works now then i presume?

it's a tough one to call and i wouldn't recommend anyone else to do it, but i'd take the risk.

bit like whether you should buy a parking ticket or not on a bank holiday

Think i'm going to have to visit my local cop shop and enquire as to where I stand on this subject.

May offer to notify them in advance of my movements if it helps my case.
