theres no chance for 1st time buyers these days unless there familys are wealthy to chip in cash to them, i know coz iam removal man .cause i heard many stories from 1st buyers moving from rented house to rented house some got to move out of the city from there job for lesser rent cause they cant afford it you never buy a house as 1st time buyer .

We bought a brand new house by ourselves for £165k, our first house... very very minimal help financially... so it is possible

Got to plan it and save for it though... it ain't gonna walk up to you and jump in your lap!

Make sure you have no debts, either, pay everything off beforehand...

That's why I'm currently still renting, am paying off credit cards (my loan for my car finished paying off at the start of the year) so I have a clean slate when walking into a mortgage advisor's office...

unless you're on a BIG wage it is VERY difficult if you're thinking of buying by yourself.....

I'm not saying its impossible....it certainly aint....its just by yourself the repayments are a killer. Trust me....i'm going to be buying by myself and even earning £28,000 a year the repayments each month for the mortgage alone makes me sad....then you've got to add everything else on top. Doesn't leave you with much to play with.....

I bought at exactly the right time. Got my 2 bed Apartment for £64K 2 years ago and the downstairs one has just sold for £98K so I'm laughing really. I got a mortgage from £58K and that works out at about £306/month including insurances
