finally after having the cav sri for over 2months, i finally decided 2day was gonna b the start of engine removal....

heres a few pics...










next plans are...

fit coilovers ....purchased 2day!!

fit caliper repair kits to ate calipers and fit the gte brakes and calipers on car

Rebuild engine...gonna put new rings, mains, big ends, lil ends, full gasket kit, ported and polished headwork...and a serious clean up

paint block and gearbox silver!!

lots 2 do, but summer is over now, so have a while 2 do it.

cant wait 2 get it in!

car is insured under me old mans name now....insurance is 350 quid wiv all mods declared, and upto 1000 stereo cover!!

so even if it goes 2 1k, ill b happy

well my insurance is £540 on 1.6 rover under my mums name....but they wont touch me on a 1.8...so I'd make sure you get a quote before you get your current engine out....oh and i was botn the same year as you

well the rebuld has begun this afternoon....dint go 2 well

Removed the rocker cover, cam cover and all pipe work etc that is connected 2 it.

looked at the crank pully and found out i needed torx sockets, which i stupidly left at work.

so looks like the rebuild will have 2 continue 2morrow!! nevermind

rocker cover and cam cover are the same thing. i guess you meant cambelt cover?

you could have cut the cambelt and undone the crank pulley later if you wanted to get the head off today.

could have, but not exactly in no rush. plus, head bols are torx...so was pretty much fucked. i bought home like a grands worth of snap on tools, and the only thing i needed, i didnt bring, typical!!

UPDATE 2

well 2day has been quite eventfull....

worked 6-2 strippin out a 7litre truck engine....

and then come home 2 a 2.0!! lol

well i took head of, and inlet manifold...

pistons look absolutly mint, along wiv the bores.

all looks pretty clean.

more 2 come

ok mr lukas....

guess what fun im now going to have....

yep im now off 2 lap in the last 8 valves!!

spent over 3hours lapping in the 8 inlet valves!!!

nah, its fine, laid it on there and removed it verycarefully.

not gonna b able 2 do the bottem end 4 like 3 weeks...

im off 2 leicester 4 college 4 2 weeks!!
