they dont just stop selling them there is a change over period usually between 6-12 months to sell the old stock off

look @ nova/corsa

corsa came out on k (althought i had an argument with someone claiming to have seen a J reg one)
nova was common on a K, few Ls, rare but some Ms in existance and seen a pic of an N reg one
