which would sound best.
2 x 12" subs both running at 600RMS so i combind total of 1200RMS
or
4 x 12" subs al running at 400RMS so a combind total of 1600RMS??

what do you mean by best?????
if u want SP: then 4 will be 'louder' if you want good sound then the better subs will sound better IMO.

i want loudness but at the same time sounding good.
just wondered wether the 2 or the 4 becuase witht the 2 its both kickin out 600rms so they are quite powerfull each sub but the 4, they are only 400rms each so no as powerfull each one but more of them.

rms power handling doesnt make them 'louder' its mearely the stiffnes of the sub to move the cone.
bass loudness is how much air it moves, so important figures are cone area and excursion.
Get those RE subs u wont be disappointed.

but them re subs are 200each so means i can only get 2 of them

just trust me and get the RE's, they r well known for big excursion and as such the loudness u want.
All more powerhandling gives is better contol over a big magnet basically.

but there are plenty of good subs.
personally get less better subs than more crappy ones.

you say high excursion, how about ultra excrusion?? 275quid each, 1000rms, 3" voicecoil, duel 4ohm 2ohm and 1ohm operation.

yea i think i will get these subs and that amp.
just need to look for the front speakers and amp for them, got about £300 left for the dfront amp/speakers, suggest anything, maybe push to £350

but the subs both run at dual 4ohm
and the amp at 4ohm is only 750rms evan tho the subs 2gether will be 1200
but the amp runs at 1500rms at 2ohm
so hould i get the full power or only half??
coz it will fuck the subs up wont it

hmm hadnt noticed that.
with 4 4ohm coils u wud show the amp either 1 ohm or a 4 ohm load.
So with that amp it wud be powered at 750w rms for the 2 which aint good.
u wud really need a 1 ohm stable amp...

ive got a Rockford mono block powerin to W3's at 1ohm. Not officially 1 ohm stabole but had no problems so far, touch wood, lol.
What good 1 ohm stable mono block amps r out there that produce at least 1000rms at 1 ohm then?

Well u wud run it at 1 ohm.
Wire each sub in parralel to make each one a 2 ohm load. Then wire those 2 loads to the amp in parralel to show 1 ohm.
Work a treat!
