i have the 600k NTL one in my room, never had it fail on me yet
its 25 a month, the 1mb one is 10 quid more per month but i dont think its worth it

If you're on a BT-line there, have a look at http://www.adslguide.org.uk, and click on the Compare link on the left......from there, you can see lots of details on most of the major BB providers around, and compare them off against one another for ratings over the last 6 months.
I'd suggest either Zen or Nildram, they're not the cheapest you can find, but the speed/reliability is superb...

Im with NTL too, would never go with them again, its always going off, and when you try and talk to someone on the phone at NTL customer support to try and get it sorted, you need to put aside half a day, you will sit on hold for a good 2 hours.
Also if your thinking off running an Xbox from it as well, NTL cap the speeds.
Try Pipex, ment to be one of the best at the moment.

Cant get NTL with bt can you...... went on Blueyonder and it said it wasnt available where I live 
Who else...... Ive been looking at Bulldog
£32.99 for 1mb but you have to pay like £60ish for the modem....

If your connection allows it, get a router......much less hassle, and allows for a network to be put on the back of the connection, rather than a single machine (although you can set up a network off a single machine, it's a LOT easier using a router).
You can get a decent PCI modem (internal, not an external USB one - my advice is to avoid USB modems) for about £30 brand-new; for a router, you're looking at £75 upwards for a decent one.

yesh. get a router to run more than one machine at once on the web
512kbps should be enough unless you desperatrely need 1mbps
im with tiscali and they have been fine apart from the coc up with billing but they sorted that. and i run 2 pcs and my ps2 on the connection and theres no problems with connection etc

Don't touch Nildram, Customer Service is very bad, wrong information, the tech staff know less than the customers.
Apparently they got all of Tiscali Custoemr Service cast off's

naah, no exam, they worked there, and got sacked or 'let go' after 3 month probation.
One Guy, Colin B****, believed that every connection error problem would be resolved by removing your firewall as they build up a resistatance to your broadband connection. And that Norton was the worse AV + Firewall package available.
If the customer came back to him after trying this and it not working, he advised them to unplug their filters (which incidentially disconnects the phone conversation).

Seen a Netgear 602M modem.
Was thinking of 1mb connection, because they are well fast, you can download full movies, music, games..... watch streeming video in no time at all. Plus will be well fast for online gameing.....
Plus most 512kb packages cost £28 ish and you can get 1mb for £35 ish, so for an extra £7 you get double the speed....

my exchange gets enabled on the 3rd of december and I've already bought an ADSL account (1MB package) with plusnet (www.plus.net) , friend of mine is on them and hasnt had any problems with them, no caps either! They were also given awards for best ISP on the planet (:lol by some magezine!, lets hope everything goes well :>
I've gone for the wires only service so I can pick the custom gear i want and for cheap too

Free2Serve - setup is £35ish and then £35 a month including VAT.
